As part of a new initiative to promote a balanced lifestyle amongst club members, the Rotaract Club of University of Canberra led the way with a yoga class on Sunday, February 25.

Rotaract Yoga classIn early 2018, club’s Health Director, Brendan King, opened the discussion with club members to establish recurring health-focused social events. This initiative was received with great enthusiasm.

Club members decided upon a yoga class as the first event, to be run by yoga instructor, Past President and 2017 Rotaractor of the Year, Andrew Anthony. The event went ahead, despite the storms that had occurred throughout the weekend. The club had access to an indoor venue, and all involved contributed to the vibrant atmosphere to ensure this first event was a success.

“This activity was a key foundation upon which to base future events,” stated Brendan. “It not only promoted social development within the club, but also offered a new experience to many, whilst contributing to their physical and mental wellbeing.”

The Rotaract Club of UC was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hall in 2013 and has gone from strength to strength with the Rotary Club’s regular contact and guidance. The Rotary Club of Hall continues its very close association with the UC Rotaract club, including publishing a quarterly report of UC Rotaract Club’s activities on the Hall club website.
