The publicity begins.

On the 12th of August 2018, the group of 28 men known as the ‘City2Surf Legends‘ will again be completing the 14km route from the city of Sydney to Bondi Beach. The group have completed every City2Surf since the inaugural event in 1971.

This will be their 48th year completing the annual event, and their third outing carrying the Australian Rotary Health message, “Healthier Minds Bodies and Communities” on their striking yellow running shirts.

Oldest and youngest City2Surf Legends

The eldest and the youngest of the Legends, Charles Rochester 87 and Chris Edwards 58.

Each year, in the months leading up to the event, the Legends receive a fair amount of publicity across the Fairfax media. Fairfax representatives have already indicated to the Legends that preparations for the celebrations for the 50th event in 2020 have already begun and it is planned that the Legends will play a big part in the publicity.

Why are their shirts yellow?

It is the same idea as the yellow jersey for cyclists (and yes we will make a yellow Rotary cycling or other yellow gear for awards at events). The Rotary yellow stands out in the crowd and makes the Legends easier to identify.

If an 87-year-old can walk it, so can you!

Challenge yourself and come and join us wearing the Rotary Fitness shirt of your choice.

You don’t need a running shirt to run or a walking shirt to walk, but we do what to see you wearing a Rotary Fitness shirt in the sport of your choice. If you don’t already have one, choose from men’s or women’s sizes, but get your order in fast so we have time to get them for you on the day.

The day is a lot of fun and the Legends would really love your support.
